Manatee Seminole Club

July 2019 Board Update

2019 is already half over, and we all have so much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to.

Club Board: The club elected 2 new Executive Board members and saw 3 board members drop off to bring our 2019-2020 board total to 15!! Thank you to all who have stepped up to help with our outreach in the community and to Florida State University.

Fundraising: The club hosted 2 very successful events earlier this year. First, an Endowment Fundraising Campaign Kickoff in March 2019 saw Manatee County donors come together to start a $50k Athletic Scholarship Endowment with Seminole Boosters. Additionally, the club raised funds in conjunction with FSU’s Great Give to increase the existing Academic Scholarship Endowment with FSU Foundation from $30k to $50k. Read all about the campaign launch HERE.

Then in May 2019, the 10th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament saw over 70 golfers and generated a net of $10k compared to $7.5k last year. Those funds will be used by the Manatee Seminole Club for scholarships. And the club still needs help from all alumni and fans in raising additional funds for our 2 endowments (Academic with FSU Foundation and Athletic with Seminole Boosters). We hope that you’ll consider the club when thinking about any charitable donations. Contact us with questions and for more info.

Events: Several events have been scheduled leading up to the Fall FSU Football Season. Check out our events page or any of our social media sites for more information on: Manatee Noles: 2019 Kickoff Party at Motorworks on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, 68th Annual Kickoff Luncheon at Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee on Friday, Aug. 23rd, FSU Shopping Night at Bows & Arrows on Tuesday, Aug. 27th and Fall Game Watching Parties at Motorworks starting with FSU vs Boise State on Saturday, Aug. 31st.

Athletics: The softball team’s defense of the 2018 National Championship fell short in Super Regional play. The baseball team went to Omaha for Coach Mike Martin’s last season, as 11 retired after the team was eliminated from the College World Series. The women’s soccer team will begin defense of their 2018 National Championship, second in program history since 2014. The football team is ready to return with Manatee native, Coach Willie Taggart at the helm for a 2nd season!! Footnote: FSU vs Boise State will take place in Jacksonville.
